nikon camera
I have been using a Nikon D70 camera for about 4 years now and would like to up grade and use this one as a back-up. What do you recommend for the next step up from this camera? Appreciate any advise anyone wants to share.

Glenda, You probably have Nikon lenses, so I will assume you want to stay with Nikon? You have two options depending on your budget. Top of the line for Nikon is the D-3; FX DSLR. Next up is the D-300. You can read many reviews about this camera. The D-300 for many was a logical progression for Nikon users. Other than the APS sensor, the options run very close to the D-3 in many areas. The new sensor is a great improvement over the D-200's sensor. The 300 is NOT a replacement for the 200 as it far exceeds the D-200 in many areas. The 60, 80 and even 90 are still not up to par with the D-300 in several areas. So, if you are looking for some significant improvements over the D-70 w/o breaking the bank, I'd go with the D-300. Pete

Glenda, I just did the same thing. In June, I bought a D300 from my D70, and what an incredible difference there is. You'll feel like you were left in the stone ages! anyway, of course there is the new D700 out, but the D300 is going to be a great camera for many yrs to come too.
