Hi Andrea,

No opinion here.
The D-90's sensor is superior to the D-50..by a long shot.
Other than the silly "movie mode" the new sensor (same one the D-300 sports) is the real improvement here.

all the best,

Pete

D90 is a little out of my range, so what do you think of a D80? any big differences between that and my D50?

Sorry..thought you specifically asked about the D-90?

If you are asking about "image" quality between the 6mp D-50 and the 10Mp D-80...One would be hard pressed to see much diff in image quality.

If you want bells and whistles, the D-80 does have a few more.

yeah-i did ask about the D90 before and then looked at the price! Yikes! i'm not sure if i'm ready to pay that much yet.If the D80 only has a few more bells and whistles, than I would guess sticking with the D50 for the time being will have to do :) thanks!

Nothing wrong with the D-50 Andrea.
My brother has one. It sports the same sensor as the D-70s.

May I ask "why" you want to get another camera?

don't get me wrong-i love my D50. I was just looking at upgrading to another and using the D50 as my backup camera. Just kind of looking around-not too persistant yet :)
I'm probably more so looking for another lens. I love my 50mm for portraits, but would like something more versitle for everything else. i've been thinking that Nikkor 18-55 or 16-85. i've read good reviews about them and they're not expensive. I was originally thinking the 18-70, but then read not good reviews. I don't need something really telephoto.
anyways-enough jabbering :)

"i've been thinking that Nikkor 18-55"

Surprisingly; the 18-55mm for the cost is a rather impressive lens. My brother has one...I was impressed by it..esp at the wide angle end.

Ken Rockwell rated it amazingly high..I have to agree with him when you factor in the cost.
