18-70 (28-105mm in 35mm equivalent) was my standard zoom 20 years ago. Very useful workhorse lens for event and press photography. But we're 2 decades on, and I think you should opt for something either wider at the wide end or longer at the long end. Depending on your personal style and inclination.
