Photography Question

John Rhodes

Pray for Galvaston

I'm a resident of Biloxi, Mississippi. I have had contractors in my home this week repairing damage from Hurricane Katrina, so we understand what a storm can do.

I ask all you praying friends out there to pray for Galvaston, Houston, and all the people to be affected by H. Ike. Katrine was the worst storm ever; but, I'm afraid Ike will far surpass what we experienced just 3 years ago.

John

Let's say a prayer for all of the folks who are going to be affected by these storms.

Thank you John and Mark...I live in the Dallas area and even we are gearing up for this huge storm! Lord, be with those who could lose everything to this monster!

Our Murry Grigsby is holed up at home in Houston (with multiple batches of cookies), so inclued him and Pat!
We're getting ready to get some of that hurricane clear up here in Oklahoma, too. They say 8-10 inches are possible for us, but I'll believe that when I see it. They let a bunch of water out of the lake yesterday (I'm sure that will just thrill the heck out of Texas)so we don't flood as much. It's been raining since last night, but so far very lightly.

  Hi Carolyn'

I'm just a little ways from you in southwest MO. I'm waiting to see what happens to Table Rock Lake and Lake Taneycomo. It's coming straight at western Mo and eastern Ok. I think the two of us are in for a ride. Break out your Zodiac.

Not me! I already have dented vehicles. LOL..
We lucked out and it slid right past us except for some rain.
Murry is ok. We heard from them yesterday. No power, but made it through the storm without other damage.

You guys in Bollocksi were just plain lucky, John. Galveston wasn't.

Dallas wasn't hurt at all. We got much needed rain and some wind but nothing to write home about! Carolyn, I'm glad you heard from Murry and that all is well!

Mark, that truck looks wonderful compared to what mine looked like when a tree fell on top of it during Hurricane Ivan. The transmission and drive shaft were laying on the ground beneath it and salt water got into the engine. The really sad thing about that is, the nearest body of water was about a mile away.

By the time Ike got to lLittle rock, it was downgraded to a tropical depression. By the time it hit the front north of Springfield, MO, it was upgraded to a tropical storm. Branson got near hurricane force winds. We had at least two gusts that I know of that were in excess of 100 MPH.To those of you who prayed for all affected, THANK YOU.

Oddly enough Wendy, I gave the guy 75 bucks for that truck. I needed the engine for my project Blazer. I had fun trying to drive it home. The front bumper was over the white line, and the back bumper was about four inches into oncoming traffic. The frame is shot, but the engine runs great. Who says bad weather is bad luck?

Depending on the situation, I agree. Ivan was almost a cat. 4 when it hit our hometown and 4 years later, there are still families who are trying to recover. For my husband and myself, my truck waa a second vehicle and had just been paid off. A couple of weeks before the hurricane hit, the closet unit of our air conditoner sprung a leak and poured water beneath the carpeting of our spare bedroom. When the hurricane went through, we were out of power for almost 2 weeks and the humidity caused mold to set in and we were in desperate need of a new flooring. Since that was caused from a leak prior to Ivan, we couldn't claim it on insurance. However, the insurance on the truck paid us enough to replace the entire flooring in our house to a brand new hardwood floor and there was enough money left over for a down payment on another vehicle. Worked out wonderful when 7 months later I ended up bringing my newborn son home. Sometimes I think things work out for reasons we just don't expect.
