computer/card reader won't recognize memory card I have a MacG4 that runs on Tiger. While my card reader and computer function fine with SanDisk memory card and the DCIM pops up on my desktop, it won't come up when I insert the Promaster memory card. There are images on it and they have been burned to CD but I wonder if anyone else has experience this. I've done all the unplug, reboot things and still nothing. Thanks---Judith

Sounds like the Promaster is corrupted. Have you tried another computer, Judith? If you DO get it to work the first thing to do is to copy all the contents, and then reformat the Promaster good, before copying the contents back onto it. But if the Promaster thereafter still displays any quirk at all I wouldn't trust it anymore and replace it altogether. It is at times like these that backups come in handy. Good luck.

Hi Judith, I have 1 Promaster 1 GB CF card that I rarely use but I have never had a problem with it on my Imac. I use mostly Sandisk 4GB cards and also a Sandisk Firewire CF card reader that makes downloading cards really really fast. A 4GB card takes less than 4 minutes to download. I had 2 Lexar CF cards that I had problems with retrieving images from as the computer wouldn't see images on the card. I ran a rescue program and saved some of them but not all them which prompted my change to Sandisk. I did make a mistake recently when I had a few images on a CF card and I inserted the card in my camera with the power ON and it fried the card. That was my own fault and luckily there weren't many images on the card but the card is unusable now. Try running a rescue program and see if it will find the images and be happy that you do have a CD backup. Good Luck - Carlton
