Photography Question

Olympic Sized lens envy

Anyone else suffering from the same affliction as I?

I'm watching the Olympics.

What am I watching?
Table tennis?...Swimming?...Track & Field? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I'm looking at all the photog's lenses!

I am suffering LENS ENVY!

..and it's bad!..Not only am I looking and identifying their lenses, but I am adding up in dollars what I see in just ONE video frame..maybe 15 to 20 shooters.

My estimation?..about $315,000 when I see a group of photogs...I'm not even adding the body prices!

Let's see?..More Nikon or Canon?...JUST KIDDING! LOL

I can hear my bank account begging for mercy!

Someone stop meeeee!

And he won't be taking it to Beijing, but just look at that server rack! Room for THIRTY-TWO hardddisks...!

Are you guys green yet, Pete and maria?

Looks a lot like my back room..hahha..Yeah right!

I'm green in RGB, sRGB, ProColor.......dadadadada

If anyone is interested, there are several articles how the IOC picks which photographers will get passes to shoot events. They're told where to stand, where to sit etc etc...And the processing room for editing etc is unbelievable! I read the "room" is provided by Kodak! Go figure.

Now this has to be the pinnacle of photography equipment, not to mention the venue.

  Pete,
Oh my Gosh, ME TOO!
My husband is reeling in pain each time I start over it!
and when Phelps parted the Photographers, that was it!
a LONG shot of all the photographers I too was wondering Nikon or Canon, lol.
I too was adding up the dollars for just what I'd have loved to have there, lol.
Oh well that what dreams & Goals are made of,

  Debby,

Don't feel bad; I sure don't.Not one of the shooters we see in those shots are self employed as we are...

SI etc have budgets somewhere north of the stratosphere! LOL

Still, it is fun seeing so many top quality lenses and bodies, enough to make even the NFL look like chump change! hahah

"Just remember that size only matters in..."
Oh heck, nobody really believes that dribble! Bigger is ALWAYS better!

But is bigger always practical?

That's the question we must ask ourselves as we fantasize while perusing our local and on-line camera shops with that drool bucket affixed under our chins.

Can we afford (and learn to use) these fancy tools and produce gold-winning images with them...or are we perhaps better off just concentrating on being competant with what we have and with what we know?
