Printing from Tiffs and Jpegs

Pleeeeese can someone help me understand this?!

I want to print a big (ish) photo from my 10 megapixel camera. I'd like 12x8inches and a couple of bigger ones.

Okay, the question. My print shop only accepts JPEGs so when I processed through my RAW file, converted to TIFF blah blah I ended up with a JPEG of about 1.9MB. My TIFF was much larger. Could my TIFF file be printed out to a larger size than the JPEG (if I could change to a print shop who would take TIFFs)

I'm really quite new to DSLR and cannot get my head around resolution, files types, printing etc!

Did you mean 12x8 or 12x18? How big are the bigger ones? Why don't you try an online printer like MPIX? When you upload a photo and want to order a particular size it will tell you how large it can go. Great prices and results!

Hi Donna,

"Could my TIFF file be printed out to a larger size than the JPEG".

No, but at a waaay better image quality.

Have a look at the Megapixel Print Chart.
