Good News - Emblems In New Basic Galleries

I thought I would let everyone know that emblems are now appearing under thumbnails in the New Basic Galleries. Favorite emblems appear also.

Looking better :-) Now if only we could display more than 8 photos a page. And would be nice to have the finalist/winners buttons showed up under the thumbnails.

Loving the addition of the Favorite emblems. Thank you for that BP!

Your galleries are looking beautiful Sam & Susan.

The right click disable option isn't working yet.

Just thought you may want to know.

A little bad news ... Finalists & Winners don't appear under thumbnails, yet. Hopefully, BP is working on that!

I see that the right click is enabled! Would be nice to see the finalist and winners and 20 images per page! Who is going to want to go through 15 pages!

What bothers me is that when you see the photo enlarged it looks very crowded with the thumbnails.

I think it will be better to see 16 images por page, and just the image enlarged whit not thumbnails.

Jessica, I agree with you about the thumbnails. I think 12 images per page would be nice. It looks like there's enough room for another row of images to display at (the current size) without having to scroll down. I haven't tried to set up albums yet, and I'm not sure I will. That seems like too much work!

I thought it was fun with the albums when I tried the new gallery, but I can't see a way to sort within the albums.

I agree that it is looking better. I like that BP has added hearts and EPs back into the galleries. It would be cool if you could click on the heart and see which members faved the work. :)

I agree with Susan though, about displaying more images and showing winning buttons, too. That would be great. I feel many people will not take the time to page through very many of my images at 8 per page.

I like the new album idea and that BP is trying to upgrade their appearance. I wish we could have all the new stuff (page color choices, albums, unlimited uploads, etc...) with exactly the same old layout. Vertically oriented with 30 images a page.

I do see that BP has be making lots of changes since the new upgrade and I am sure everything will work out in the future. :)

Ken Smith just let me know in another thread that "BP has a 'coming soon' option where you can turn on/off the Favorites, POTDs, Finalists, EP buttons." It's still grayed out right now. At least we now know this feature is coming. It looks like BP is working hard to please us!

I noticed that feature yesterday! I'm not crazy about those hearts besides the titles under the thumbnails. A little too cutesy for me. They also added another color: Midnight Blue with a black background.

I hadn't noticed that either, Jessica. I just tried the Midnight Blue/Black Background Color Schem because I prefer a dark neutral background. There's still the problem with obvious white lines at the top or sides of some of my images that started when BP changed to the Borderless format. Now only white or other light colored backgrounds hide that problem.

I think BP needs more color schemes that use a white background in the new version. Midnight Blue/White Background would be nice.

I also think it would be a good idea if BP gave the Classic Version users a background color choice option. Not everyone knows how to change the colors of the background.

Good morning, thanks for all of the NEW information in this thread.

I have the same problem on my website with the white lines, on the bottom and sides, of some of my images. It has always been a problem if an image is an odd size (Pano crop) or sized too small. I especially have that problem with the thumbnails.

I do like the new color scheme. I noticed that the photo sort order, under browse all photos, is set to the way your old gallery is set up. However you have your photos sorted the old way, that's how they show up now.

Also, the right click option only works on some browsers, the others are locked.

Donna

I'm glad they're making changes to the new gallery options, but I still haven't changed over, although I have started creating my new gallery. It just takes too darn long to add the images one at a time, trying to keep track of what you have already added, and to have no sorting controls once they are added. It will take me hours to get it set up. I do like the new Midnight Blue color scheme, but I noticed that with that one, the text is all blurry and unreadable. It's not like that with the other color schemes.

Deb, you don't have to create albums. That's where all the work comes in!

I don't mess with albums. I just leave them as they were in the old gallery. This way Photo Sort still works and it's easy to move the photos around.

To you who've switched: I'd like to see what my stuff would look like in the new format, but want to be able to switch back to Classic if I don't like what I see. So if I fool around in the New version and go back to Classic, will it look the same as it did before, text and all?

And thank you all for doing the Beta testing (which should have been done before launch) -- all the rest of us will reap the benefits of your discoveries.

Truly I think it was very nice of BP to have the bridge built-in to get back and forth between the two formats. I cross that bridge quite often :)

I created 8 albums (a nice number to fit in the page) to organize my photos, but then, later I removed the albums to keep my photos in order as in the classic gallery, as Susan noted above.

I did the same thing, Nobi! I don't know about displaying the EP's though! It looks too busy IMO.

Thanks all, but I have another problem: when I went back to Classic, the thumbnails are much smaller than they used to be. Help!!!

Um, cancel that. I'd changed the display settings on my monitor.

(Like many of you, I'm OK with the new version but find the eight pictures per page a pain.)

I think the emblems are a little large & distracting in the new version. I'll probably be switching back & forth between both versions.

I've gone back to the classic version. There are still several problems with the new galleries.

1. I can not contact anyone with a new gallery. I can bring up the contact page fine. But I am unable to type in any of the boxes

2. There seems to be problems with people seeing the Discuss This Photo box. I can see it Mozilla but not IE. Some can't even see it Mozilla.

There are clearly still problems with the code. So until they fix it, I am going to stick with the old gallery

Plus I really want to display more than 8 photos a page. No one is going to click to see 15 or 20 pages in a gallery. I don't understand the 8 photo limit.

Hmmm... I don't seem to have the problems you've mentioned, Susan. Although there seems to be a problem with the POTD's displaying under the thumbnails.

Susan, I discovered that you have to be signed in to BP before the Disscusion link appears. That means only BP members can read or respond to comments. I don't really mind that at all.

Well, that must have been a glitch! I just saw discussion links in my gallery for the first time without signing in.

I keep switching back and forth too. I find it difficult to email anyone personally. The contact link doesn't work. So I thought I would try BP mail. But I can't find that option either.

Donna, alot of people with the new gallery aren;lt enabling their contact information. I don't know if it's by choice or not! What I do is go to the read discussion, then click on the thumbnail in the discussion thread and you'll see the "send a message". Not very user friendly or intuitive! LOL!

Still cannot key in a message using Firefox (although I see the message form has been changed the way it was a while ago). An odd thing about this is that I was able to send messages using Internet Explorer before, but not using Firefox. But some people were having problems...
I'm sure soon or later, most of the problems are straightened out as they seem to have been fixing quite a few things fairly consistently.

  Good job on BP part.
"Send BPMail" also works in Firefox.
