Cool Outdoor Portrait Locations In San Jose CA?

Wasn't sure what catagory to put this is so this will have to do.

I live in the San Jose area and my time is a bit limited, to just go hunting. I was hoping someone might have a heads up on some cool portrait locations in this area. I am looking for industrial type spots, area with cool rich textures and colors, pretty much anything that would make for great urban backdrops without distracting from the subject.

Any ideas? TIA.

Try used car lots off Capital Expresssway north of downtown. Old storefronts. On the west side of 101 past the airport turnoff before you hit 680 I think, there are a number of old industrial buildings you might find interesting but they're occupied by truck repair shops, tire places and construction supply yards.

Also there's an old agricultural town north of Gilroy and south of Morgan Hill and east of 101. It's got great storeftonts, old buildings with worn siding, etc. Aside from that, try the boardwalk at Santa Cruz or San Francisco. San Jose to me is just too remodeled.

BTW, I keep a notebook in the glove box of my truck to jot down scenes for this purpose when I'm cruising around. I also blast a couple of shots of it if I have the time when passing by. It becomes a location scrapbook of sorts.
Take it light.

Thanks so much Mark! Lots of great ideas there, including keeping a notebook handy! That industrial area you describe sounds close to were my husband works, will have to go check it out. Now to find that little town you mentioned!

Again, thanks for all the info. :)
