Buying a Rebel 2000 I'm going to purchase a Canon Rebel 2000 (EOS 300) sometime in the next few months. In doing some preliminary research, I came up with a few questions. 1) How much should I trust 'factory refurbished' cameras? They offer a significantly lower price point, but I'm always suspicious of people selling things for less than 50% of their retail prices. 2) Along the same lines, I found a Web site that is selling a Rebel 2000 body for $175. They claim (I sent them an email to ask about it) that it is a new, unopened camera with a full 1 year USA factory warranty. I spoke with the people at a nearby camera store, and they claimed that that was well below cost. Should I even consider trying to order from these guys? The Web site in question is http://www.HotBuysElectronics.com In other words, when I see camera prices that are 'too good to be true', is there even a chance that I've found a good deal?

I agree with Donna - I know many people feel fine about buying refurbished equipment but I sure don't. Especially when it comes to delicate electronics, I just feel more comfortable knowing that the item is brand new. And I have seen that HotBuy company selling Rebel 2000s on eBay for about $275 so I would be absolutely certain of what you are getting before you buy. Also, if you indicate to a salesman that you are planning to buy in a few months, he will likely tell you anything he thinks you want to hear, just to get you to come back when you're ready. At that time, you will find that the price has suddenly increased.
