Photo Consent/Release Situations

May a captured photograph of a high school athlete (participating in an official sanctioned sporting event) be used in photography competitions if the student signed a school district photographic release form? Or……… must a separate release form be signed?

Ask the kid's parents for a release to enter the contest, give them a print as consideration. Alternatively, go talk to the lawyer for the school district, who, I presume, drafted their release in the first place and ask them. Any legal opinions you get around BP aren't usable as a defense at trial in the event you're sued. Much better to be safe than sorry.
Take it light.
