BP still takes money for dead cash contest!!!

Hi Everyone!

You would not believe this is possible!!!

I just wanted to search the address of a particular member and go to the page "Community > Basic Galleries.

By mistake I click below "View ALL BetterPholio Galleries" into the box "Premium Gallery".

And I come to my member centre, and there:

I can BUY a subscription to the CASH CONTEST!!!!

See the screen copy below:

This and all the other "funny things" that happened in the past weeks and with the "new improved" galleries give a horrible impression of the Computer department of BP.

Before retirement I did run a software group. We made software for 600 banks world-wide, "Mainframes" and PCs, but if we had made those mistakes, unannounced changes, etc. I would have been forced to enjoy retirement much longer...

We all love BP, it still is THE best site, but BP gives the impression to need some major improvements to survive the mounting competition. I sincerely hope so!

Alexander

Oh... one thing I forgot to mention: I used to have a "Basic" gallery, but as Christine is the real photographer, and her gallery gets used heavily, I downgraded to the Freebee clan.

It's only there that you can buy cash contest entries.

This, however, does not constitute an excuse...

By now you should know that they don't do things as formal nor as synchronized as a bank would.
You know this is like a mom'n'pop shop.
The page and links may not even work.

Alexander, I have to agree with you. I also worked with software for a major (very major) bank; contrary to what gregory says, it was total CHAOS! But that was long ago, in a galaxy far away... before the Internet, before PC's! Ouch. Thing is, we've come way computer-wise since then. I also used to have a website of my own ( a business I no longer have today) so I think I can say with some experience behind me, that you don't (!), ever go online without checking all the glitches out! What they seem to need is a Coordinator, over there. Maybe they are short-handed...

For the record, I can understand some of the changes. The cash contest, for example. Otherwise I wish they'd gone according to that old adage: if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Nadya, Gregory - Thanks for your comments. Things get better all the time... While this thread is still online, it is now "hidden". You do not find the subject any longer. Try it!

BTW, I erroneously added the addition under my wife's name as I had just been on her site.

I wonder if this thread 32581 now will completely disappear or if I may even once get a reply/comment/statement from BP.

Nadya, I agree with your comments re testing. Heck, maybe you even were in a bank which was also my customer, as the programs were running in many very big banks (about 70 of the top 100). Does, for example, the name Corona mean something to you?

And Greg, o.k. re mom'n'pop, but if I have almost 17,500 customers than you have to handle these with kid gloves! For example, in my way, I would have announced a new release early, then release an Alpha version to a few customers who I know, will test the program. Then a Beta version for more customers and only then dump the new program, COMPLETE WITH FULL DOCUMENTATION onto my 17,500 very valued customers.

Well, I guess, I am spoiled, but my heart bleeds when I see such foulups at BP, which I do value very much.
