Question about using counterfeit Sandisk card Hi all. I purchased a Sandisk Extreme IV 8gb compact flash card on ebay only to find out it is a counterfeit. The seller realized this after selling it to me and several others after he read a warning on ebay's site. He promptly sent me a refund for the full amount and I still have the card. My question is: Is it safe to use these cards? From online research, it appears that they mostly work fine except that they are about 1/2 as fast as the real card should be. Anyone have any experiance with this? Thanks very much in advance.

Not sure, you should sell it on EBay.JK Why bother taking photos with a crappy card that may become corrupt.

New gizmo's abound... http://www.eye.fi/ All Eye-Fi Cards come with everything needed to make it simple to set up and connect to your home Wi-Fi network. After that, pop the card into your digital camera and start capturing memories. It stores pictures like a regular SD card no matter where you are, and uploads automatically as soon as you return to your wireless network. All you have to do is turn the camera on. So far they only have SD cards - no CF cards yet..

Good point Oliver. I still plan on purchasing an authentic card from a retail store, but was just curious if any damage could come from using the fake card or wondering if anyone has experience with these cards corrupting down the road. Thanks for the reply.

Hey, Carlton, We're a little off-topic =^0 but Eye-Fi has another neat gizmo: geo-location built into a card. Locates you with the same technology as the iPhone. Geotags your pics if you're near a Wi-Fi spot (USA only, for now). Whatwilltheythinkofnext? Cheers, RK
