copy and moveing jpegs

I know that when you copy a jpeg you will lose data. What happens when you move a jpeg from one file to another? Any loss of data?

No you don't. The copy is an exact clone.

What do you mean? A jpeg IS a file. If you attach it to e.g. an eMail there's no data loss.

  Hi, Michael,

As W noted, you can copy a JPG without losing data. Moving the file is simply a copy in which the file is deleted from the original location.

The confusion, I believe, stems from the fact that each time a JPG is re-saved in your image editing application (e.g., PhotoShop) data is lost as the application (re)compresses the image.

Cheers,

RK
