Photography Question

Scott Barker

best price cameras.com?

I recently did a search on google for Canon 30d. I was looking and found a website that sells a 40d body, just the body, for 549.00

Is this is even possible? BH sells it for like $1000.00

Should I buy it from the bestpricecameras.com people or what?

  ....then don't.

Seems to me someone mentioned this outfit beore and said it came back as a royal hose job. What's the name of the place we all use around here? Oh...wait a minute...try a real camera store Scott. http://www.bhphotovideo.com

You can't lose with them.

Since I've got you guys on here, how is the 30d when it comes to wedding photography? I am wanting to get a second camera for a second shooter/back-up for me?

I'm not sure on that one. I've shot with Minolta most of my life, and because of this, I now use a Sony Alpha. All I can suggest is that whatever you decide on, make sure you buy from a legit dealer.

  Scott,

If you want to find out about this seller, try looking them up on resellersratings.com. I think you'll get the picture.

BE AWARE OF GRAY MARKET ITEMS!!! Most the online stores selling name brand electronics such as cameras will import the products outside the US distributorship. What that means is you are purchasing a camera that was not ment for US sales! The camera may look and function as the US products but will come with no US support! BH and cameta are two online photograph stores that I know go though the US distributor ship. Ever if the camera says it come with a US warranty it may still be gray market. The difference is that their warranty is from a third party vendor and not the manufacturer. If you need warranty work on a gray market camera, you have to "apply" to send in or have serviced before the work is done! This means you are at the mercy of a third party insurance dealer instead of the manufacturer rep. I have learned this the hard way when I purchased a D80 though a discount house for $200 below US prices last year. Even know I have the "Extended" warranty, many things are left to the desecration of the company that handles my warranty claims. I have already been turned down on a RA to have the camera's image sensor change out due to a manufacture malfunction; they refused to warranty it because the damage was preexisting before the camera was bought. The insurance company warranting it told me to exchange it, vendor refused, said it is a warranty claim. I paid $367.00 out or pocket to have fixed. Lost camera for four mouths waiting on BS to clear. DON'T BUY GRAY MARKET!!!!
