Slide Show Software

I have been asked to do a slide show for a church group. Would like to get software that can be use on a regular TV and DVD player with music. I notice most of the answers are fairly old. It would be nice to be able to email this friends also.

  Hi Kathy,

While there are many slide show and image email programs available, I like Corel Photo Album 6. It’s great. You can download a free trial and look and evaluate. I don’t know if the trail version allows making a slide show.

This software burns a CD and allows the recipient to view the images as a slide show and they don’t need any slide show software loaded on their computer.

As to email, it’s easy click on the images you want to email, it opens you email program and attaches them. The attachments are compressed and the recipient will have no problem viewing.

Have fun!

Microsoft offers a freebie called My Picture Story 3. It's easy to use and offers a large variety of transitions - something a lot of program don't. You can add music, etc. The downside is that you have to buy a $20 plug-in to burn the DVD.

This plug-in is the DVD burner in Roxio's Easy Media Creator, which also offers a slide show creation program. It's very good. Add music etc. Fewer transitions, however.

You can use Elements 4.0 and higher to create slide shows. To burn the DVDs, however, you need Elemnts Premier, an album program.

There are also a number of cheapies, available at Staples, Best Buy, etc. I've never used any of these.

However, eMailing a slide show may prove impossible because of the slide show's file size: most eMail systems don't allow larger attachments than 10 or max. 15MB.

So send them to your recipient's eMail address using either www.podmailing.com or www.pando.com, which allow gigabyte sized files to be transferred. For FREE!

Hi Kathy, I really like Photodex Pro Show Gold. It has lots of transition effects, zoom, pan, rotate and you can add music as well, then burn it to DVD that will play on most DVD players. You can set the time for each photo & the time for the transition or even make it as simple as letting the program do it for you. It is easy & fun to use this program. I have made several of these slide shows over the years for specific concerts & festivals and produced high quality shows. I work with a Production company from time to time and perform projection shows.
I like it so much that I am considering getting parallels on my MAC just to use this program (since they dont have a MAC version. Check out their site - http://www.photodex.com/products/proshowgold/

To burn slide show cd's, I use HP photopremier. To burn slide show dvds, I use Nero Startsmart. Both of these programs are well suited to each of these tasks, but neither is good for both.
