Photography Question

Mundy Hackett

I am surprised

that this iamge did not get an EP, but then again maybe I shouldn't be. Do you think that the border and my signature hurt it? I have seen other winners with these qualities?

Mundy, you might try taking out the tiger on the right. I like the compostition with just the main tiger and it's body. My eye tends to jump back and forth between the two tigers. The one main tiger alone with its beautiful stripes would be awesome. It's a nice image, and this is only one person's opinion, but you might think about that. If not, and you like it this way, try re-submitting it next month.

I'm envious of your PS skills. You did nice PS work on it, but to be honest it was hard to view. There is nothing that takes my eye to a single focal point.

After I just commented, I went back and looked at it again. I figured out what bothered me. Just to the right of center, the stripes converge. My eye keeps going to that spot, not the the tiger's faces. :-) I hope this helps.

Thank you both very much, that was helpful and I may rework it and submit it again in the future. Thank you again very much, I really appreciate it.

I saw the image before you removed it, Mundy. While Sherry's and Dennis' suggestions are valid, it should have still received an EP. It is vastly superior to many of the images that are chosen.

I don't see the image...but for folks that have been here awhile, it's common for good pictures to get passed by in the first round..cause there's just so many photos out there. That's why people resubmit, and with great success. In your specific case, maybe it can be improved...reference Dennis' comment. But if you really like a photo, don't give up on it; just resubmit.

I, too, saw the image before you removed it. A wonderful and vibrant work; DEFINITELY deserving of, in the least, an EP. I liked the framing, too.

I've had a few tiger pics -even one with frac filter- passed over, especially when entered in digital darkroom. Some, when re-submitted under Animals, get chosen.
One composite image in my gallery that was just awarded as a finalist, 'Trekkin in the Midnight Sun,' was originally passed over when entered in the DD category. Although I felt a little funny entering it into 'Animals' (as it was composed of six images, and had A LOT of edits involved), that category proved a charm!

Try re-entering it, Mundy. Your image is definitely a wonderful one!

Just another voice here to echo the suggestions to resubmit, even if you don't make changes but still feel confident about the image. Often you will receive an EFP--or better--on a 2nd submission!
