I would love a little feedback on the folowing two cards. They are not a whole lot different but just a little.....

I am doing the card for an assignment and can not quite choose which one.

I was about to ask you to first say what's different, but I see.
The bottom one tells you what you do. The top limits you to sounding like you're doing horse pictures.

Go with the wording on the bottom and CAN THE HORSE! Maybe go with a full body shot but I saw your cards and the first ting I did was duck.

Do you think I should have my name on the bottom card?

I don't quite understand what you mean Christopher. Why did you duck? More info please.

The card is for a fun assignment within an equine photographer's group. It has to be one sided, I usually do a double sided card that also reflects the pet photography.

Thanks for the input so far.

Sarah G   Yes, the contact name should be on the card. Everyone wants to know exactly who they are asking for whenever possible.

You have a horse with VERY unique markings on that card. It really surprised me. "He" does make a great high-key image though. It is definitely a fun card.

OK added my name to the bottom card. It does not look too crowded?

Sarah
Domino is actually my horse. He is certainly unique and offers lots of interesting photo ops.

  1. I like that you are straight forward in your top line with "Photography". Too many times I see photo business names that don't actually tell a customer what service is actually being offered.

2. Too a non-photographer "fine art" could mean just about anything. IMO, I would either delete it, or be a bit more specific.

3. It's a eye catching card, that's good.

Sarah G   I wondered about the "fine art" too, but didn't say anything.

I really like the card. It is eye catching and that will help it be memorable. Memorable can be good for drumming up business.

Sharon-
You are fortunate to have such a neat horse. I'm going to show my oldest the pictures of Domino. She loves horses. When I first saw him I thought, "What a neat photo op he would be."

You've definitely got a fun and neat card made up. Your photography group should really enjoy it. :)

Christopher is talking about the horse's butt being pointed towards you.
Since this is a project thing, if you don't actually live on connolly lane, make up a different name. There's too many Connollies.
I think you could keep the fine art, because that indicates that you sell pictures of things that aren't directly connected to people who make appoitments. Like horse pictures to people who like horses, but not horses of their's.
I'd drop the farm shoots, because unless that's specific to taking pictures of somebody's farm, it comes under portraits. Would a portrait at a ranch be a ranch shoot, or a portrait with a theme

OK I will toss around the fine art thing. See what others have to say before I decide.

OK I get the duck thing now. ;)

I do live on Connolly Lane. Would it be better to drop the address? I only put it in so people can get an idea of my location. I hadn't thought about how many times Connolly appears on the card.

For horse people there is a difference between farm shoot and portrait.
Portrait is with people. It is a portrait of owner and horse(s)
Farm shoot is usually set to sell horses. The horses are posed in very specifically depending on their breed and/or the job they do. Any people in the pictures are only there as props to better show the horse.

Thanks for the input so far!!

Keep it coming. I really appreciate it.

Sharon

Okay, I know what farm shoots are now.
Okay, since it's your real address.
Sounds corny to me.

Never mind Gregory. Someone spilled stop bath on his CMOS chips this morning. (just kidding, Greg)

My wife did a project kind of like this for school with biz cards, menus, RSVP's, flyers, the whole works. It's kinda neat to see concepts like that brought the whole way through.

As to the fine art thing, I think nixxing it is a grand idea. That's like a musician referring to his own music as Mozart-esque. Just play your music and let history and the public decide how fine your art is. Just make sure it is art and the rest will fall into place.

On the whole, I do like the card.

And as to the 'duck' thing, yeah. Gregory nailed it. I've always warned that my sense of humor can be suspect at times.

Thank you
Chris

Is that a home address or business address. For privacy/security issues, I would never put my home address. If it's your home address, consider getting a PO Box.

A suspect in a fraud case?

Why, Gregory, thine words pierce mine countenance as though they were daggers tipped with the poison of the truth. Mad, mad misery upon mine personage that I might live to see the sun of mine own death and to be rent assunder unto the uttermost ends of the earth.

Suspectfully yours
Chris

Silly Boys. :)

OK I think this is the one I am going to submit.

Dennis I heeded you advice to drop the address. I put my general area on instead so people could see a working area.?

I also removed fine art, as much because I needed the space.

OK?

Here is my present card. It is a front and back card.
I didn't plan to change to the project card but I am getting attached to this simple black and white card. Maybe I will switch the front......

  Ha Ha Gregory.

Hey we are very rural here. Actually probably 50% of the population of Liberty lives on a road with their last name. The other 50% is related to the name giver of the road. ;) Except for the 10 people who live on main st that is.

My last batch I had printed at a local printer. About 35 mi away. But close to my real job. This year I plan to shop around a bit on line.
Who do you recommend?
