Countdown to Feb '08 Results

Fellow BP Contest Enthusiasts, I say we abandon the traditional doomed meaning of "Beware the Ides of March" in favor of a more expectant, hopeful, fun definition! Apologies to Julius Caesar, but today is one of those great days of the month... We give ourselves free reign to break out the good chocolates, pull out the favored libation, and as always... (say it with me)... call down the lucky ham/chickenbone chant. Settle in as we anxiously count down to the February results, due later this month. All are welcome!

Share here with us that one photo you entered, that you felt was your best or favorite entry of the month, regardless of any EFP status. The one special image you are proud of, or the one that just makes you smile. One gentle reminder: Please refrain from posting half a dozen of your entries; narrow your focus (so to speak) to that one excellent, meaningful, or otherwise favorite Contest image of yours! Best of luck, to all the Contestants!

Helpful hints, re: Attaching photos to Forum Threads:

1) Sign into BP completely (name + password.)

2) If you have NOT YET entered the Contest today, you can use the "Photo ID" to pull an existing image from your Member Center into your reply to this thread (avoiding a duplicate image upload.) Get the Photo ID# from your Member Center, come to back this thread, click Respond, enter the text of your reply, then choose "1" from the images-to-attach drop-down. Click Submit; at the next screen populate the "Photo ID" box at the right. Skip the other fields on that screen.

3) If you HAVE ALREADY entered the Contest today before replying to this thread, you can't use the Photo ID method today. You can either wait until tomorrow to reply here (before your new Contest entry!) or, upload a new copy of the particular image (from your PC) into this thread. This produces a duplicate image in your Member Center; however, you don't have to make that duplicate visible in your Gallery.

4) If you're uploading a duplicate, maybe title it "For Forum" so it stands out in your Member Center, for easier housecleaning later... This can help direct viewers to find the original image in your gallery, when they want to leave a comment. Likewise, if you want to add a comment to a photo seen here, try to tell if it is a duplicate upload. As a courtesy, try to find the original image in the member's gallery and leave your comment there instead of on the duplicate---that way, if the duplicate is deleted later, the comment history isn't lost.

Union II
EF100mm, f/11, 1/60th Second, ISO100, RAW, tripod.
Another take on the olive oil drops on a CD, a few moments after the droplets spread out and connected with each other.
This shot was a few seconds after my first "Union" image and the connection point has widened, very slightly.
The colors are from small halogen lights held at various angles to the CD; the banding effect is a result
of the CD's metallic layer. I did spot cloning to clean up dust & scratches, but no filters/colors were added.
