Center-Weighted Focusing w/Nikon D300

I have my camera (D300) dialed to the single-point autofocus setting. WHen I depress the shutter button, one focus point square highlights in my viewfinder, and it is always towards the upper righthand corner, even when I have my subject centered in the viewfinder. Shouldn't the focus square be highlighting the closet subject, which I usually have cented in the viewfinder?

Celeste,

You need to "unlock" the focus lock wheel..then you move the navigator wheel to bring the focus point back to the center.

It is supposed to work this way.
I usually keep the focus point centered by default.

Pete
