Pentax K10

I just recently have been looking into getting a digital SLR camera. The first 2 places I went too really recommended the Pentax K10 as a beginning photographer. Has anyone had this camera? Do you like it? Is there something else anyone would recommend for a beginning of photographer?

Thanks in advance!

I don't use it, but its only because I am not investing in a digital SLR right now.

I think the Pentax SLR's are an excellent choice. Go to photo.net, register and read comments about the Pentax digital SLR's. For that matter, read the reviews here at BP.

Their design is simple and straightforward. The camera is light and easily portable. The viewfinder brightness is better than others in its price range. Image Stabilization is in-camera, NOT in the lens. Pentax makes excellent prime (non-zoom) lenses, the 21mm being an excellent example. Instead of walking around with some huge 77mm filter size zoom like a drunk protecting his bottle, you'd have a very portable prime lens that translates in film terms to a very useful 32mm. Finally, it can use every lens Pentax ever made for a film SLR's, even the 60-70's screw mount lenses via an adapter. How's that for a 2-cents worth from someone who doesn't really own the camera?

You cannot go wrong with Pentax. They have a long proven track record.
