Photography Question

Is anyone using a hot-swap hard drive system?

I am researching backup storage options, and almost certain that I will invest in a hot swap hard drive system. (For anyone who doesn't know, it is seperate components of a solid power supply case which then gives you the infinite possibility of adding/swapping new hard drives whenever necessary.) Is anyone using such a system? Do you have any recommendations for both power cases and hard drives?

I have had 2 WD Ext. Hard drives- one 250G and a 500G. My 500G failed me, and I lost about 10,000 photos. (This was back when I was naive and so I trustd the system and didn't have most photos backed up....my DVD+R drive was defunked at the time...and my 500G HD decided to bite the dust the SAME DAY my new DVD writable drive was installed! Ouch. Live and learn.!)

Anyway, it seems the hot-swap system is the way to go to stay economical for a high-volume portrait & wedding photographer like myself.
Suggestions & reviews on your own products/experiences are helpful!
Thanks!

Hi Kateri,

obviously a hot swap hard drive system is the cat's meow. Like Drobo, or Apple's Time Capsule. The price is high, of course, but that shouldn't be a problem for a pro.

Have fun!
