I don't think that can be true. Maybe they don't list them for the free galleries. It seems like back a few years somebody won who didn't have a gallery at all.

Djoanne, once someone gets a 2nd place win, they automatically get a premium gallery. That's probably why you don't see gold medals in free galleries. I know many BP friends that started with the free gallery, got the gold, and got the Premium gallery...

I know for a fact that a friend of mine on here with a free gallery won a finalist and then 2nd place. Once she won 2nd place, she received a free premium gallery for a year. So yes, you can definitely have a free gallery and win.

I had a free gallery for awhile and was hoping for a win in order to get a premium gallery for free. Finally, I decided to stop putting it off, and just buy a premium gallery because I had no idea when I'd win. Sure enough, that was the month I won my first 2nd place. :)

LOL Colleen, I held off too until I was afraid they would make mine inactive until I renewed. So I did, and the next day (as best I can remember, but if not, it was like 2 days later) I won 2nd place. And so my paid one doesn't expire until July 08, and then I have another year. I don't know if I will even be here that much longer (and I don't mean I think I might pass on) LOL. It's just a lot of things are changing here, and I am ready to take my photography to a new level and make some money! But I will probably still check in, but I can already see I have entered the contest less lately.

I really appreciate your responses. I for one am going to "check-in" less often. I spend way too much time here. Wnen I come, I'm going to look at other galleries and observe. I will also find some "favorite photographers and "watch" their galleries. One of my MOST favorite photographers here is Cora Miller. I LOVE her flower photography. Maybe we should start a thread on favorite photographers so we can all "take a look". Thanks again. I'm going to be here for a different reason than to get EFP. ....no more contest entries.....well, not many anyway. Have a good day.

I am happy to hear about Cora in your remark. I had a pleasure of going out shooting with Cora a couple of times in Texas Hill Country. She is a fine photographer. Love her nature and outdoor photography. You may win having a free gallery but it has gotten very very very hard to win at Betterphoto now. I was lucky enough to win a few places, but my last win was almost two years ago (other than finalists). You will have to be in the Elite Class to win now. Incentives to try to be better has taken away from me now. I don't shoot nor post here as much as I used to.

Thank you Nobi. I enjoyed visiting your gallery too. You have some wonderful photos there. Most of my incentive to be better has come from here. Like someone told me once, you have to let go of the old and create new. Enjoyed your response. Thank you.
