Photography Question

Anne marie Hansen

where are the books sold?

If my picture is published, where can I find the book and buy it in a store?
Barnes and Noble?
How long does it take? months?
Will someone notify me when the book with my picture is out for sale somewhere?
After reading everybody elses mails, I don't want to buy it now and wait for the book to come to me.
Please advise!
Marie

  "After reading everybody elses mails,..."

Then you really haven't read what everybody else said about it.
You can either buy it and wait, or don't buy it. Those are your options.

If you are talking about something from picture.com or Internationl Library of Photography, the book does not exist. It's a ploy to seperate you from your money. Good Luck Derek.

Then profanity doesn't help either. If you read "almost all" as you say, then you should have a clue that it's not sold in stores, and you wait until they get around to sending the book.
That's why I said two options. Wait, or buy the book. But it's hard to get people gullible enough that keep falling for that legal waste of money to see it for what it is.
Even when they claim to have read other people's experience with it.
Don't bang your head against the wall, it'll hurt. But maybe it'll be different for you.

Anne Marie, there have been several threads on the BP forum about rip-off companies that contact you about how great your photos are...want to publish your photo, etc....of course, it costs you to get the book.. From your comments, it's unclear if this is what you're referring to. Here's the latest thread on the International Library of Photography...

There's a reason they call it vanity press.
Tell everybody how fabulous they are, charge them for putting every kind of picture in a book.
The kind you were on your way to buying.

My flattering letter arrived this week too, so Anne Marie is not alone!
I'm just glad I checked up,read all the mails & saved myself some money. Even though it's a whopping scam, I was quite encouraged to think that someone other than my friends and family thought it was a really good photo!

Liz, unfortunately the company probably didn't care one way or the other...they just wanted your money. Sadly, many many people think "wow, they like my stuff", and then you pay $$s to get the cheap book. You feel good and they feel good cause they got your money.

Yes, Ken, you're probably right.I agree completely that the company probably couldn't give a stuff and are simply in it for the money.
However,I expect there are other photographers out there who like to think they take good pictures, and are encouraged when their own opinion of their work is confirmed by other folk!

Liz, I totally agree...just as long as the encouragement is heartfelt, without money strings attached. And at BP, you can get a lot of heartfelt encouragement, which is good!
