Landscape/all purpose lens for Canon

Hi everyone,

I was hoping for some direction as to which landscape/all purpose lens I should purchase. I'm leaning toward the 17-40L for landscape and the 24-105L for general purpose. IF anyone owns either of these lenses can you please let me know what you think of them I already have the 70-200 f/4 L so do you think the 24-104 would be overkill?

If you can afford "L" lenses, you can't go wrong with any of them. See www.luminous-landscape.com for advice on Canon lenses for landscape.

I have the 24-105L lens...use it all the time, and even for landscapes..you don't have to have a wide angle lens for landscapes. I also have the 70-200 F4/L lens.

If you want wide angle...consider the Sigma 10-20mm F4-5.6. I like it very much.

Renaee: I own both of those lenses and use them for professional applications.

And yes, a 10-20mm or similar zoom would be great too for ultra wide angle photography - assuming you own a Digital (not film) camera. Lenses of that type are strictly for digital cameras.

Cheers! Peter K. Burian
