Hi Claudia B, Many lower end digitals are not equipped with a sync cord. “SYNC” is an abbreviation for synchronization. Your camera likely has a built-in flash that works just fine. You can use accessory flash units called slaves. A slave flash contains a circuit with an electric eye that watches for a camera flash and when it sees one it fires in unison. There is an abundance of units on the market. Start out are this link. Alan Marcus, Anaheim CA

Hi Claudia, Alan is right. If your camera has red eye reduction or uses a preflash for focus you may have a problem. Wein makes slaves that are designed to ignore the first flash and trigger on the second. If you have a hot shoe on the camera you can get a device that will sit in the hot shoe and hah a sync terminal on the side. Also there are radio slaves that fit in the hot shoe and trigger remote strobes. I did an article on sync it is on one of the magazine pages at my website: www.siskinphoto.com. Thanks, John Siskin

Hello Claudia, Slave is the way to go as stated. Many of the newer crop of DSLR's have the ability to reduce their built in flash output greatly. This allows the slaves to trigger w/o the on camera flash contributing to the shot. By the way; sync cords are going the way of the dinosaur. LOL all the best, Pete
