How to setup for plexiglass mirrors

Hi. I got a plexiglass mirror a couple months ago, it is just sitting in my studio. For some reason, I can't figure out how to use it right. I keep getting the ceiling showing instead of the backdrop. So, how do you position the plexiglass? How close to the backdrop? I just haven't figured that out yet. I would love to be able to use it. :) Thanks, Sherry

Hi Sherry,

1) what's the difference (for photography) between a plexiglass mirror and a glass one?

2) what did you get it for? What do you want to apply it for? As a tool for your lighting? Or as part of/in the image?

As part of the image for reflections. Wow, the past couple days I am having to learn a lot! LOL! Yes, I want it for portrait reflections. Thank you all for replying, I appriciate it! :) Sherry

I don't create images by setting up whatever technical stuff I have and the see what images I get from that. I work the other way around: first an image is conceived in the mind's eye (mine or the designer's) and then you set about executing it...

So can you describe the image you want to make, Sherry?

Yes, I have the image in my mind, just haven't figured out how to achieve it. It is a little girl in a pretty pink dress, on the ground in the studio with a backdrop, and the mirror is laying on the floor with her full body reflection in it. And flowers around her some. Got any suggestions W.S.? Can I ask, I see you don't have a gallery here, and you are always so willing to answer questions, do you have a website of your work anywhere?
Thanks!
Sherry

Just like the mountain reflections in the lake.

Like greg says. Mirror on the floor, girl behind it, flowers around. Low viewpoint over the mirror.
Only, you may not have enough backdrop height.

No, Sherry, I took my last gallery off-line 2 years ago. Saves a lot of preparation and maintenance time. Plus no worries over image stealing. And I sell most photos including copyrights anyway.

Imo, the process is more interesting than the end result. The journey is the reward. Not the destination.
