Sony Alpha questions? I am considering purchasing the Sony Alpha 100 or 700. Has anyone used both camera's and what major difference's did you find? Weight wise what is the difference? What lens would you recommend for these two cameras if price was not an option. One for landscape and one for portrait work. I would want really good lens. What flash system would you recommend? Thanks in advance for you help.

The owner of the studio I rented had one and loved it (not sure which one). The color is supposed to be amazing out of the camera. I know he also had a Nikon but I'm not sure if the lenses are compatible. A great lens for portraits is a 50mm 1.4, or 1.2 if you want to be a BALLER. As far as my Flash System goes...I like the trench coat method...it really surprises the joggers in the park.

Hi Kerby, I own both the a100 and the a700. Both are excellent cameras. If your hands are smaller, the a100 is the smaller of the two, but the a700 has some features that make it stand out in my mind. It has a synch cable connector, the a100 doesn't (I use wireless, so it really doesn't matter to me), the a700 also has the ability to be operated via your computer via a tether (usb cable). While the a100 has excellent AF speed the a700 completely blows it out of the water, the 5 fps is a big improvement as well. I use the Minolta 3600HS D flashes, the 5600 models are better and I've heard good things about the Sigma Super for the Alpha.
