Is a Compact Flash Ultra II 4GB card OK for D70S? I have a Nikon D70S DSLR and have had it for a couple years. I am currently using a SanDisk Compact Flash Extreme 1GB memory card and have no problems. But I want an additional card for an upcoming vacation, so I bought a SanDisk Compact Flash Ultra II 4GB card, thinking it would work. Upon looking at the manual, this specific card isn't listed. Is there a reason? Is it because my manual is old or is the card too slow for the camera? Anyone use this card with success? I need to know if it's a bad choice, so I can return before the 14 day window passes (for making a return.) Thanks.

Have you checked the approved memory card list on page 192 of your manual?

Hi Cheryl, I've used SanDisk Ultra II cards with our D70 and never had a problem. As a matter of fact I just picked up two new 2GB Sandisk Ultra II cards last week. Mike R.

Thanks for the info Mike. I suspect you got a similar "Black Friday Deal" as I did!

Yeah, I just wonder sometimes how many people actually do their homework before wasting other peoples time. Looks like you are one of the ones that are like me and research a problem before they make a post, rather than expecting an instant answer because they've had everything handed to them.

You know it. We've been using 1GB cards for a while now and shooting JPG mode, but we've been trying to do more shooting in RAW mode so I couldn't pass up the deals last week:)

Here is a page you might find interesting and helpful. Rob Galbraith tested the right speeds on several flash cards including the one you bought. And it is regularly updated according to the first page. He's done this with several makes of cameras. http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/multi_page.php?cid=6007-7906

Thanks again! I contacted Nikon yesterday and they surprised me with a (completely useless) answer in under 12 hours. So I went to the SanDisk website, and they had a compatibility section; the card is listed on there as being OK with the D70S. Todd, I also checked the website you suggested and loved all the information! Thankfully, I can keep my new 4GB memory card. It's not as fast as some, but I doubt I'll notice the .4611 second difference between this card and my SanDisk Extreme card. Thanks again!!!
