Counting Down to Oct. 07 Contest Results


	The Strike EF17-85 @22mm, f/16, Thirty Seconds, -1/3ev, ISO100, RAW, tripod Rework of earlier image: Curves and new Crop to remove the large foreground fountain spray. This is an actual lightning strike captured during a 30 second exposure; it was not added via software. Hello, fellow BP Contest Enthusiasts! Time flies, particularly near holidays; here it is, time again to gather and await the verdict of The Judges!
Pull out the lucky hambone chant, I'll grab the cocktail shakers, and of course, stock up on chocolates, as we brace for the waiting, wondering and wishing, until the October Finalists & Winners are published later this month! All are welcome here!

Please share with us that one photo you feel is your best chance to capture a Contest Medal this time. Or, perhaps, that one special image you really WISH would bring home the silver or gold, even if it didn't make EP.
One gentle reminder: Please refrain from posting half a dozen of your past entries; ideally, this thread is about sharing that one, really special, excellent, meaningful, or otherwise favorite hopeful image of yours! Best of luck, to all Contestants!

Helpful notes, re: responding to Forum Threads and attaching photos:

1) Sign into BP completely (name + password.)

2) If you have NOT YET entered an image today, you can use the "Photo ID" to pull an image from your Member Center into this thread (avoiding a duplicate image upload.) Get the Photo ID# from your Member Center, come to this thread, click Respond, enter the text of your reply, then choose "1" from the images-to-attach drop-down. Click Submit, and on the next screen populate the "Photo ID" box at the far right. You can skip the other fields on that screen.

3) If you HAVE ALREADY made a Contest entry today, before this thread, you can't use the Photo ID method today. You can either wait until tomorrow to reply here (before your new Contest entry!) or, upload a new copy of the particular image (from your PC) into this thread reply. This produces a duplicate image in your Member Center; however, you don't have to make that duplicate visible in your Gallery.

4) If you're uploading a duplicate, perhaps title it as "Oct Fav for Forum" so that it stands out in your Member Center, for easier housecleaning later on... Adding "Original displayed in my Gallery" to the description can help direct viewers to seek the original image in your gallery, for comments.

5) Likewise, if you see a photo in this thread and want to comment on it, try to tell if it is a duplicate upload first. (Are there any older-dated comments already on it? Does it say "Original displayed in my Gallery"?) As a courtesy, try to find the original image in that person's gallery, and leave your comment there instead of on the duplicate---if they delete the duplicate later, they don't wipe out any comment history that should really belong with the original entry.

I figured it must be time for the monthly countdown thread because this afternoon I ate three small Callier Chocolates.

My favorite from October is as good as any I have seen in my photography magazines. Catching the trout coming to the surface of the water to feed was the finishing touch to this photograph and the crowning moment to an early morning’s long walk around the pond.
