Photography Question

URGENT: EFP medals need change!!!

To whom this may concern:

This is more a request/suggestion/PLEA rahter than a question :o))

First, I want to state that I think the EFP regognition is a positive thing! However, I strongly dislike the golden medals. The resemblance to the WINNER medals is simply too strong. In fact, I think the EFP bagdes take away from the WINNER badges. A blue star (or something to that effect) would be much more suitable. I loosely compare the contest to a race. Not everyone who participates in a race or even finishes a race receives a medal. A medal is a symbol of extraordinary accomplishment.

In the years that I've been a member here at BP I have never voiced any complaints about the site. I think the BP team does an OUTSTANDING job of keeping this site running smoothly and constantly making improvements for its members. This one aspect though has been bothering me ever since the EFP buttons came out, at which time I read many threads regarding this issue and most people seemed to want the medal changed as well. I won't go on trying to convince "to whom it may concern" to make a change in design for the EFP button. But I do hope that he/she will take this request into consideration.

Respectfully,

Susana-Heide Thiessen

  Really.
And lately there have been a lot of complaints about this & that.
I personally think this is a nice addition and that they did a really good thing with this.
There are alot of those here that have posted thier reserve about even entering the contest here just because of intimadation,I'd bet this helps them feel better about partisapating and a larger sence of belonging.
I used to get quite a few emails on should they submit this or that, and I don't seem to get those much anymore.
which is good because I have felt for a long time that this type of world wide contest, with day to day submissions and one winner is unfair anyway. it's just down right impossible to be accurate with that and 10's of thousands submitted each month.
So, the OWNERS of this site did something to give everyone a sence of pride in thier work.
I think everyone should just leave it alone and repect thier right as ownership and good judgement.

Besides BP is supposed to be a place to share, get info annd feel the commeradery of other photographers.
and is in NO WAY a accurate judge of anyones work or accomplishments, or possible accomplishments.

just my opinion.

I in NO way feel that BP should do away with EFP's! Like I stated in my first email, I believe it is definitely a positive addition to the contest!!!! But I do think a different symbol would better represent the level and type of recognition that an EFP stands for. I rarely come into this forum and didn't realize that this issue had been discussed to death and fizzled out by now.

Just stating by belated, hopeful and personal opinion on the topic.

I agree with Debby & Gregory,

I have a few EFP's and believe me I have never mistook them for winners. No one who has visited my site has. The font on Editor Pick is large enough you can read it a mile away that it is an editors pick.

I am all for keeping the buttons as is.
You know, those of us who dont win often, well that little gold badge sure is a nice addition to our gallery & makes us feel good about our work.
