Photography Question

Mac ... Recommendations

After I used that Mac Tower in our photography club in our area I fallen in love with Mac.
I was planning to get only the Monitor but I heard it is not enough, also the Tower or desktop is so expensive, some advised me to get iMac, after researches and asking I found that I should get MacBook Pro but it will be later next year, and I will put a budget maximum up to about $3000 if necessary, so what do you think or recommend?
I will buy a color calibration device sooner or later so I don't worry about calibration my monitors and printers, and I will try to get minimum 17" monitor for that laptop, and I am sure that graphics card on those laptops are similar to what is in that tower desktop I used.

What exactly is the question? You seem to know what you want, and from one comp to the next, there isn't much difference in what you will be able to do. Just keep in mind, you need AT LEAST 1GB memory, and you're going to need a large HD or an external hard drive. This looks good: http://tinyurl.com/2y4md7

I mean, should I get a laptop [MacBook version]? or just an Apple Tower desktop [cheaper one]? or only an Apple monitor?

Even if I will decide to buy a laptop, I found there are more than 15 Mac laptops.

Simple...Is the computer just going to sit on your desk irregardless of it being a tower or Macbook, or would you like to be able to take it around places? Performance wise, if they have the same specs they should perform marginally the same.

So, if you don't mind not being able to take it around places, I would recomend the Mac Pro over the MacBook Pro. The Mac Pro can pack a lot more power, and is a lot easier to upgrade.

15 different Mac laptops huh? Do you mean just different configurations or different models(ea. ibook and MacBook)? If indeed you do mean models, then you would have to buy used to get the older models as Apple discontinues models as soon as they have a new model.

Hi Brendan, I want both, portable and desktop.
I finally decided to get a MacBook Pro, later if I can have more budget I may buy a desktop.

Thank you very much :-)

I think you'll be happy with that as it's a good choice. I bought a MacBook about three months ago and I love it so much I've barely touched my PC since!
