2007 BP Conference – A Big Thank You!

For the last two days I attended the third annual BP conference. I didn’t know what to expect, but in the end, I walked out of there with many things.

One thing is that the BP staff, not just the instructors, but ALL of the BP staff, are amazing! To take a line from Cheers (and I know I’m now aging myself) “you want to go where everybody knows your name” is exactly how I felt when I walked through the doors. The staff seemed to recognize my name and greeted me with huge smiles and told me it was great to finally meet me.

The next thing I walked out of there with…inspiration. Truthfully, I haven’t shot much in the last year, maybe only a couple hundred shots. But in the end, I can’t wait to stop typing this and get out to start shooting! I believe that every attendee, no matter what subject matter they shoot, came away from there with so many ideas. The instructors were humorous, knowledgeable and willing to share anything and everything with you about photography. They showed us all of their “WOW” photos, but they even showed some “not so wow” photos just to show you some tips and tricks in PS to salvage the shot.

Lastly, I walked out of there with friends. I know I’m not alone in the fact that you meet people at the BP site through the forums, a class or even just by seeing and commenting on each other’s photos. You always wish you could meet them, and through the conference, I was able to meet many people that I had been hoping to meet.

Bottom line, definitely a weekend that I highly recommend to everyone, whether you are a beginner photographer or a seasoned professional! So to all staff and instructors, a BIG thank you!

I was hoping to get out today and shoot, but the weather is so crummy! I'm really bummed I couldn't make this conference seeing how it was right "in my backyard". Maybe the next one... Sounds like you had a fantastic time Margie!

Yes, it is crummy...cold and rainy. I wish you could have been there too, Corinne...it was amazing!

Okay, all you lucky people who got to go to the conference: I am officially jealous and a little miffed. At the moment I am only about 200 miles north of Chicago, but it may as well be the moon or even home in New England. I really wanted to come this year, but work interceded. As I always say, work sure gets in the way of fun!

I am really glad that you had such a good time, Margie, and once again, thanks for trying to help me with the dog thing. Share more stories when you have time.

Irene

They haven't been posted yet. From what I understand this as well as handouts should be posted.
