Question about resubmitting EFPs

I guess it's OK to submit a photo that already has an EFP without changing anything: right? Or is it better to work on the photo and then submit minus the original EFP? I must admit that this EFP thing has me going: I check my site much more frequently now.

Interesting to note that one image lost an EFP in July and though I've resubmitted twice, it has not regained that EFP. I suppose the judges rotate, and judges 2 and 3 just didn't care for the photo.

Hi Sandra... Yes, you can submit an EFP image into the contest (as long as you're not entering it twice in the same contest month.)

I do believe there are different judges each month... From a pool of judges - but I don't think it's the same 2 or 3 every month.
If your photo is bypassed for EFP - then you have a chance to give it a good hard look and try again. Sometimes it's just a matter of adjusting your color/contrast, re-cropping, or sometimes re-shooting - when possible.
I would rarely just keep resubmitting it as is and hope for luck of the draw... Try improving it... It's worked for me (had a finalist win 2nd place after I re-worked it) (my mini-pic)... and had several get finalist the 2nd or 3rd time around after re-working them...
If you truly believe in a photo - don't give up on it - but try looking at it with fresh eyes...

Sandra - I had the same thing happen to me in July. It is frustrating and discouraging to me that images that were on their way to the Finalist judging got dropped through some mysterious technicality, and now have to be re-submitted. I'd like to see these images have their buttons re-installed and be automatically re-entered into the Finalist judging.

That said, if you re-submit an EP image with the button intact, does it automatically go into the Finalist judging? Or does it start at the beginning and have to earn another one to continue forward?

Hi Cindy... a resubmitted EP, starts over in the new contest---but doesn't lose the button as a result. So you won't have a "visual" way of knowing if it gets dropped out of the running, the 2nd time around.

That's helpful to know, Chris: thanks. So the only way to know if a resubmitted EFP made it to the next round would be to repeatedly hit the reload button under Editor's Picks. Not an appealing option! Oh well . . . .
