Blue and gold polarizer

I am thinking about buying Singh Ray's blue and gold polarizer, but it is quite expensive. Does anyone have any eperience with this filter? Comments? Thanks, Kathleen

I've seen pictures taken with it. They've mostly been fall foliage, but I've seen one or two used to make a nude figure study have a gold tint to the skin.
It is a nice effect though. I don't know how much it cost, but since you said it's expensive, I guess consider the number of applications you can use it to make it worth the price.
Like a regular polarizer you can use that with so many things, but it'll never become a cliche. A gold and blue, maybe.
People get that way when they get a lens baby. It's a nice effect but they lens baby everything and then it turns into a demo of what a lens baby does, and they forget about the photo as a good idea.

I have one that I use here and there, and I sometimes get a nice result. As a cheaper alternative, check out the Cokin Blue/Yellow filter. It's not as high of quality as the Singh-Ray one, but since it gives a similar effect visually, it will help you decide if you like it enough to spring for the expensive version!

"How to Photograph the Canadian Rockies" by Darwin Wiggett has a section on this specific filter, and speaks very highly of it. His sample images show dramatically the effects that this filter can bring to even the most mundane shot... enough so that I've been perusing eBay looking for one on the cheap!

Re justifying the cost, most of us are in this for the enjoyment rather than the money. Rest assured that if you buy a new one and don't like it, you'll get most of your money back on eBay.
