International photography society I also received the honor of being selected as a photographer for this photography society. I knew better than to buy a book just to view my picture. I have my picture. And if I won a contest for a good photo I should be receiving an award if only in form of paper or recognition. So I just took it that I would at least be published. Then I receive more information to join this society. But the money involved is ridiculous. I do think this is a scam and think they should not be using this as a way to make money. Can't people just be real?

I agree with you Judith, and its a sad truth, but people out there do prey upon a photographers desire to be published. Picture.com is also a scam, so be careful when entering "free photo contests" because those that sound to good to be true probably are.
