If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck - there's an even chance it's duck? But, is it a legal duck? Is it bootlegged? You didn't tell us what kind of source you have, whether it's one of OEM sites, etc., etc. You may not get a serial number and, therefore, you may not be able to get updates. And, then, there's you're own conscience - especially if there's even the slighest chance the software isn't legit. Frankly, the price is too good, it's probably not a legal copy. You might be able to get a legal copy of CS2 for that price, possibly the better of two worlds. I wonder whether Richard Lynch could provide insight as to whether it's worth upgrading from CS2 to CS3 in the first place. That might help you make a decision. For me, I still have a long way to go before I exhaust CS2.

Would you know what to do with CS3 if it bit you? Are you saving up for a dentist's high-tech work setup – complete with assistant – to take care of your teeth? Or do you make do with regular brushing and flossing, like the rest of us? Get GraphicConverter (http://www.lemkesoft.com/) for Mac, and/or PhotoLine32 (http://www.pl32.com/) for Mac and Windows. Have fun!

If you are serious about photography and image editing and this is a bona fide copy (I got a similar price with a coupon I received when I purchased some equipment), buy it now. You will never get a better price. Bill

The price (was a) promotional upgrade from PSE 5.0, I called adobe to verify, difinately legit, then placed an order, but later cancelled after being informed, and realizing that CS3 for me! was difinately overkill. what I actually wanted was camera raw, I downloaded the free plug-in. it was nice to hear your thoughts on the subject. thanks a mil.

and the $300.00 was instead used to purchase the SB-800 speedlight to go with my D80. the guidance I recieved from this site is very beneficial, I will difinately take classes here, to learn, and also in return for all the help recieved.
