Photography Question

Christina Sandberg

85mm

I just purchased a canon 85mm f/1.2L II EF (USM)lens. This is my first time to use this lens and I am noticing that the focusing ring is extremely "loose" compared to other lenses I have used (28-70; 70-200) Is this normal for this lens? It seems that in manual focus the ring would slip causing a blurred image...just wondering if this is a problem or is it typical for this lens...thank you.
Christina

It shouldn't be loose wobbly. If it's really easy to turn you don't have anything to worry about. It's a short focal length, and fixed focal length so the construction of the internal gears may not have the same leverage or friction as other larger lenses or zoom lenses.
