I think it can still be an editor's pick, but I'm not sure if the editors will know to look in places other than your gallery. If a picture is an editor's pick, you can tell by viewing all your uploaded pictures, one by one.

If you want to display more pictures, you need to buy a premium gallery. You can also win one by placing second in the contest.

Hi Heather; BP has indicated the Editor's Picks are processed across all uploaded photos. (It seems to me, it is more likely processed across all contest entries.) So it is possible that you could "unshow" a photo in your Member Center, and later it could receive Editor's Pick. The only way you'd know, is to go into your Member Center, and under "Edit Your Photos", drill into each photo not active in your Gallery, and see if a medallion is there.
So, IMHO, if the Editor's Pick is against all contest entries, and you've entered a photo some time ago (say, a month or more) and it didn't get EFP, you can probably set that one to "not visible," and not worry about it, if you are trying to make room for new photos on display.

  Heather,
When I started dealing with having my best 30 pictures displayed, but had to keep hiding, unhiding photos, that's when I decided to make the jump to a better premiumpholio. It is definitely worth it! And, you won't have a chance to miss out on one of the EFPs! ;)

  Hi Heather,

I just upgraded to a premium gallery today. When I went into my photos to choose older ones to display (having to choose when limited to 30), lo and behold, two of them had EFP's. These photos are from over 2 years ago. I agree that the price of $22 for the year for a premium gallery is worth it. They are awarding EFP's to older photos, as they did with mine.

Have a good one!
Susan

As far as the payment option, I'm not really sure if they accept money orders. You might want to check that out here: http://www.betterphoto.com/sites4Photogs.php
or contact them through their contact form.

As far as your pictures, no, they won't delete any of the pictures you already have in your gallery, whether they are displaying or not.
And in fact, you'll have a maximum of 300 pictures to display.

Good luck!

I just want to say that I was very pleasantly surprised when I checked my older photos which were not displayed and found so many medals! (e-picks). This is so encouraging, as I assumed they went un-noticed! I think we all need encouragement. The picks are a wonderful idea! Hope you don't discontinue this!

Yes, some of the new changes at betterphoto really help to make it easy for BetterPhoto or a member to say that a photo is great!

Now if they'll just make a few changes to the forum [(un)subscribe button on individual threads, ability to edit or delete your comments]...

I have never seen an editor's pick which was also a contest winner. Can a photo be both, or are editor's picks replaced with a winner badge?

Ariel, IMHO, I believe a Contest Medal trumps an EFP, so if you have EFP, and it makes Finalist or higher, the Contest Medal displays, being the more meaningful medallion. It isn't the same kind of "honor" as POTD + Contest, where both medals display on 1 photo.

That's what I thought. I was just wondering if that indeed was BetterPhoto's idea.

I wonder if one goes out of the editor's sight (for a 'pick') if not loading images for sometimes! I had a break for about 3-4 weeks, and since then not a single visit by the editor despite my several good quality uploads!!!

Susan, although the EPs are fairly new, BP has always had several elimination rounds to determine finalists. The EPs are basically the first round. So, when you mention you saw EPs from photos that are two years old, it simply means these photos made it past the first round, two years ago. It was retro-active. At least that's my understanding. I don't think BP went back thru the tens of thousands of photos to tag some as EP...heck, it's tough enough for them to keep current with today's entries!

I wish they'd do a members pick too. I think a lot of really good stuff gets missed.

If BP were on the ball, they would mark ALL our photos EFP so that we would all have to jump to a Premium gallery to hold them all. I am happy to get an EFP now and then. I don't think I'll ever win....that way I'm not disappointed. Someone said in a thread, "maybe you have to take their courses to win". That's not true either. I'm growing in my photography, but at my age I'll probably run out of time before I ever get a win. I take the courses for my own pleasure and enjoyment and I've enjoyed each one.
