Categories for contest Hi folks, I was just wondering if anyone out there knew why there isn't a sports/action category in the contest. Every month I see some terrific shots in the catch all section but they don't really belong there amongst everything else! Now I understand that there can't be a separate category for EVERYTHING but I would have thought that action and sports were quite popular in the USA (I'm a Brit, so I'm merely guessing!). There seem to be quite a few (excellent) shots of rodeo events, baseball, football, surfers etc and some awesome planes - I'd love to see more! My main interest is in wildlife but I'm trying to have a go at local sports events with varied success - and BeterPhoto has been a great learning tool so far but I wish the sports and action stuff had a more visible forum. I'm putting rugby into the catch all section at the minute so pleeeeeese can we have another category or a least a good excuse not to!! Thanks, Donna

I've wondered the same thing, since most of what I shoot is sports. Sports just don't seem to belong in the regular "people" category either. Its one thing to be able to pose someone, quite another to catch action at it's peak moment. And you don't get to do retakes, you either got it or you didn't. If I had a dollar for every sports shot I missed, I'd make Bill Gates look like a pauper, LOL!!! I'm not the only one either, I can't count the times I've been shooting a game with other photogs and heard "Did you get that?" And any number of them say, "*%$#, I missed!"

I am sure it is a difficult issue with the admins at BP. I doubt there are really enough "sports" shots to justify its own category. I am new here so maybe this has been discussed before. I guess I will just go between the "people" category and the "catch all" category depending upon the shot.
