Eye dropper I use CS2 and I must have changed a setting and don't know how to change it back. When using the type tool, I will select a color for the letters using the eye drop tool and grabbing the color off of the image I am working on, but I am no longer able to get the eye drop tool to appear and instead I just get a color palette. Can anyone help me to get my eye dropper back please ?

Select the eye drop tool and then open the options window and see if there's anything there that you can turn off. Double clicking a color with the eye drop will bring up a color palette so you can change the color you selected. Maybe CS2 has a feature that lets you go directly to the color palette.

Hi Gregory. I tried that and there is no option that I can find. I can click on the eye dropper or the type tool but when trying to get the eyedropper to appear when I have the type layer selected, it only displays the color palette. It only started doing this recently which is why I am searching for the fix. I must have inadvertently changed something ??? I have read threads and searches on the web and PS help and cannot find the solution for this problem.

Hello carlton, do you have the TYPE later highlighted? If not, highlighht that layer, and at the top of the page you will see in the tool bar.. the third icon from the RIGHT, a colord box... click on that.. then you wil see a color box apper.. dont do anything in that, just hover over the photo and you SHOULD get the eyedropper tool... click on a color in the photo. and your letters will change to that color.. then on the color box that opened.. click OK.. and your text will stay the color you picked with the eyedropper.. I hope this worked for you.. or I also hope you found a fix before I replied to your post... Robert

Thanks Robert but no luck. I still get the color box instead of my eyedropper tool. I have tried so many options and read many threads but have no idea what I need to do to get my eyedropper back for grabbing my text color from the photo. I have also asked on other photoshop chat boards with no luck. I have used this tool for years with PS 5.5, 7.0 and with my current CS2 and have never had this problem happen. If you have another suggestion, please let me know. Thank you, Carlton

Check under file-preferences-displays and cursors See if changing any of those to precise or standard will do anything.

Thank you Gregory, I tried both, standard and precise and it didn't make a difference. I really hate to re-load CS2 since I have plugins I have bought and maybe expired.

Wow, found it. If you type ctrl/K or cmd/K this will bring up the color picker general>preferences and for some reason my color picker was set to windows instead of Adobe. Once I changed it to Adobe, my eyedropper worked again. Thanks Everyone
