Photography Question

Marta J. Baldwin

enter photo in different catagories

I am trying to enter one of my photos in two or more catagories. I know I can't do it on the same day so I waited one day and when I entered it I checked my entries for this month and it didn't show up. In fact it changed the catagory listed on the first entry date. Any suggestions?

I do not beleive you can add the same photo in more then one catagory in one month. :O)

You cannot enter the same photo more than once in a given month.

I've been wondering: if you have a photo and you enter it in a category, and then you modify it significantly, such as adding PS filters, etc., would that be considered the same photo--and therefore ineligible to enter on another day the same month?

I've noticed some people upload variations on a photo throughout the month, but I'm looking at their galleries, and don't know if they are entering each version in the contest.

It's a great question. I've seen the same thing and I'm really not sure. I would think that if the photo was changed in any way, the file would be different therefore making it technically not the same photo even if it is similar.

You can if you alter the photo and retitle it.

OK, thanks! That's what I thought; just wanted to make sure.

In the past I wanted to enter into two categories so I uploaded it once into one category, and the next day into another category. When this has happened, though, I usually had done a little bit more refined editing and liked the newer version better.

All you actually have to do is change the file name, upload it again and enter it in a different category. Is is ethical or in the spirit of the contest, probably not, but it can be done.

I would guess all you really have to do is upload it again, It should assign a different photo ID number with each upload.

It would seem that checking wouldnt go by photo name but ID number.Even so I'm sure that someone along the line would notice the extra photos ,and remove them anyways.Especially if they were both considered for a prize.

I'd like to think that the judges are sharp enought to notice the discrepancy. It would be embarrassing to see the same photo win in 2 or 3 categories
