Photography Question

Eileen Broderick

Color Management

Okay--I understand that I need to calibrate my monitor and have been reading lots of responses here about using Spyder, Huey, etc. But it seems like most people writing on this topic do their own printing at home. I still get prints done at Motophoto. So where I get lost is how to know that once I've calibrated my monitor at home, the lab's printer matches what I saw at home. I know to ask for their "printer profile" but don't know how it all ties together! Will this make sense to me once I use calibration software? Might I calibrate and find that my prints still don't match?! If anyone can take this discussion in that direction I would really appreciate it. It's the missing link for me at the moment.
