The longest timed shutter speed on the S9000 is 4 seconds. But set to M exposure mode, and the shutter speed to BULB then longer exposure times are possible. The shutter will be held open for as long as the shutter button is pressed - to a maximum of 30 seconds. A cable release is recommended rather than holding the shutter button with your finger. The S9000 uses standard mechanical cable releases that screw into the shutter button.

I you want longer exposures you'll need to use a different camera capable of unlimited BULB exposures.

P.S. - the BULB shutter speed is displayed as "B" on the S9000.

There used to be one more shutter speed setting: "T". For Time.
In that setting the shutter would open at the first pressing of the shutter button, and stayed open when you let go of the shutter button, until you pressed the shutter button a second time, when the shutter would close again.

It was very convenient for making exposures of longer than just 1 or 2 minutes. 20 minutes or an hour was a piece of cake with "T". You could walk away, have a cup of coffee, whatever. Then go back to close the shutter.
Excellent for startrails. Or moving traffic. Etc.

But I can't recall having seen the "T" shutter speed setting on any camera since the seventies.
