I have tried layers, text layer, trying to create a new brush, folowing directions from tutorials and several cs3 books and can't get them to work. What can I be doing wrong and could someone give step by step instructions to help me. Thanks

I got this method in another older Q&A thread. I used it several times and it works.

1. Open a new file in Photoshop. Size the file to 4" by 2". (I use a smaller size than recommended, such as 2.5" by 1".)

2. Use the Text tool and select your desired font and size from the drop-down list.

3. Type in a copyright, your name and date. The copyright symbol can be made by Alt+0169 (hold the Alt key while entering 0169).

4. When you get it looking like you want, go to the Edit menu and select "Define Brush." Type in a name for the new brush such as "Copyright."
The new brush is now defined and you will find it at the bottom of the brush list.

5. Stamp your photo by selecting the brush tool and scrolling down to find "Copyright." Size the brush as desired and place it on your photo.

Or there is a special and simple tab in Helicon Filter Free to add this, with many different format options. I highly recommend it.

Hi Carol,

there's a number of watermarking apps you can try. Some of 'm do batches too:
http://www.versiontracker.com/php/qs.php?mode=basic&action=search&str=watermark&srchArea=windows&submit=Go
And
http://www.watermarker.com/watermark-protector/?source=adwords&gclid=CJKGi4ahtIsCFSoMQgoddynw1w

Or you could try invisible watermarking, 'steganography':
http://www.versiontracker.com/php/qs.php?mode=basic&action=search&str=steganography&srchArea=windows&submit=Go

When you copy & paste those URL's make sure to remove the spaces that BP often somehow inserts into them.

Have fun!

Thanks everyone. I meant to say that it is Photoshop CS2 not 3. I tried both Nobi and Arie' replys but I think there is something missing in my CS2. I still cannot get it to work. All are good solutions but something is wrong in my program. I have also tried using note pad to import the copyright thing and that dis not work. I am still stuck.
Tkhanks again.

If you stop trying options you will remain stuck.

  Carol,

You might try a program called Picture Shark.

http://www.picture-shark.com/

It's free too.
