Photography Question

Deborah Liperote

Kevin Kubota actions vs. Auto Fx

I was looking into these different options and wondered what everyone opinion was. First and foremost I hope I understand these correctly to be actions I can use with ps2. and secondly which ones do you prefer to use and why? Thanks for any help you can give.

It looks like the guy is selling at least dozens, if not hundreds, of those 'actions'. And, looking at his prices, I'd swear brainless millionaire heir(esse)s are his target audience.

I.o.w. anybody with PS and some basic intelligence can create those same or similar actions.
For FREE . . .

Do you want to copy some guy's "creative" ideas, or do you want to be an original photographer/artist?

Yes.

"and secondly which ones do you prefer to use and why?"

I prefer to use none, because 1) they're faaaar too damn expensive, and 2) they apply not MY creativity to my images, but somebody else's.

So, now you should be 'indebted', Deborah.

Have fun!

  Hi Deborah,

I have a couple of Kevins actions. I did not buy them, but I didn't steal them either. Lets just say I borrowed them from a photographer. Anyway, I love Lord of the Rings and Hawaiian Punch. You could create some of your own, but wouldn't you rather be shooting or meeting with potential clients. I've seen many photographers spend too much time in front computer and run out of work. You will only like a few actions on every CD, but they are totally worth it for the time you save. I have never heard of Auto FX. I got a few Nik filters for free with something, but I never use them. Not as good as Kev's stuff.

You know that he has workshops sometimes where he shows how to use his actions and the new stuff. I think its called "boot camp". I believe he lives in Oregon, so I'm sure he goes down to L.A. You should visit his site to see where he is next.

Beautiful, love Penn. The winter is kind of dreary, but when the colors start to pop out, WOW!! I shouldn't have said how to, but when to use certain actions. It works really well to play an action and then get a brush to bring back things that you want.
