Using 500D on 100-400 Canon L

Hi. Just recently got a 100-400 Canon L and also just received in the mail a 500D closeup lens and haven't had time to try it. A friend is taking me to Kyoto tomorrow to view the cherry blossoms and as everyone and their grandmother will probably be in the Imperial gardens and shrines too on this first cherry blossom weekend, don't expect much luck with landscape shots. While I've had great results with the telephoto with birds, I've had limited success with the macro function, unless there's a LOT of light and then it can do beautiful work. Anyway, just wondering if someone has had experience with the combination of these two (100-400 and the 500D) and if they have any tips before I wander out with it.

Hi Susan, I have a 500D that I use on my Nikon lenses (no, it doesn't cause a rip in the time-space continuum). While not a replacement for a macro lens, you can get some good results with it. Where I have found it to be useful is when you have something small that you want to shoot close up but still want a wider frame of the background than a macro lens would produce.
