Hi Vikram,

a 1 meter softbox is not a very big one. Assuming it diffuses the light really well, try placing it much closer to your subject, and – obviously – adjust F-stop and shutter speed to deal with that change.
You may want to under-expose a tad, say 1/2 stop.

Have fun!

And if you place a reflector on the left, you can soften light fall-off even more and further open up shadows.
You should get extremely smooth and subtle light gradation.

If you can shoot RAW, you may want to consider using tone-mapping (Photomatix: http://www.hdrsoft.com/) in PP to maximize dynamic range and tonal subtlety.

Reflector on the right, of course!
