Photography Question

TERESA J. SWEET

Online Proofing

Hi everyone,

For those of you who post pictures online to your clients, what website/company do you use? I was thinking of going thru Candid2000's site (which they use www.weddingimagesonline.com), but it is so confusing to set up and you have to download quite a few things to get it set up (which is really slowing down my computer...and trust me, I have a lot of memory).

So, I just wanted to see what other pro websites are out there and what you would recommend. Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Hi Teresa,

in my experience posting photos online – for clients – is OK to let them browse. It's not OK though if you want to enable your clients to download high-resolution photos, because – afaik – all websites compress the photos you upload (to save space/cost on their harddisk arrays).

For distributing full-size (high-res) photos I zip them – with password – then send 'm through http://www.pando.com/ or http://www.yousendit.com/ to my recipient(s). I send the password by alternative means of course. This way recipient(s) can download the highest possible quality/resolution photos at their convenience and leisure.

Have fun!
