  Format.

There has to be some reading you're supposed to do on your own for all these homework assignments.

  Hi Nagham,

Every industry has its unique jargon; the photo industry is no exception.
“Format” refers to the layout of an image. More specifically “format” defines the size of an image produced by a camera

Cameras that accept single large pieces of film are classified as “large format”.
Cameras that accept roll film size 120 (70mm width) are classified as “medium” format.
Cameras that accept 35mm width film are classified as “miniature” format.
A single image on a roll of film is known as a “frame”.
A 35mm frame measures 24mm width and 36mm length centered on a film 35mm wide.
